PT Kalla Electrical System is a transformer manufacturer in Indonesia,
and the only one on the Eastern side of Indonesia.
Established in 1995,
PT Kalla Electrical System is one of the energy companies belonging to the Kalla Group,
which produces distribution transformers, branded Kalla Trafo.
Their transformers provide national electricity distribution,
and are filled with Shell Diala S4 ZX-I.

PT. Kalla Electrical System continues to take part in the
development of infrastructures project with the government,
mainly the 35.000 MW electrical program.
Currently, our installed capacity is 4.800 unit per year,
with market share of 90% to meet the needs of PLN distributions transformers,
and the rest is to meet secondary industry needs,
both private and public companies.
Therefore, our company is continuously improving our services and product qualities
one of which is transformers oil,
as the oil in the transformer has a very important role as a coolant and isolator.

In order for transformer oils to meet original equipment manufacturer specifications,
they have to go through a number of processes
to ensure to meet tight specifications for water content and breakdown voltage.

Shell’s latest development with Shell GTL
base oil is Shell Diala S4 ZX-I transformer oil,
which offers three advantages.
The first is ensuring the protection of the transformer itself;
the second is the operational simplicity,
as the product is fully miscible and compatible with conventional transformer oils.
The third is technology leadership
as Shell Diala S4 ZX-I has been designed for extended oil life
in transformers due to its high oxidation stability.
It meets and exceeds the standards of IEC 60296 (2012).

We chose Shell Diala S4 ZX-I because this product is developed with GTL based oil,
is an oil which fulfilled our standards and customer’s demands.
With zero sulfur, this product gives extra protection
for transformers against copper corrosion potential.
It also has a high flash point which can reduces evaporation
and a better safety level.
Furthermore, the high breakdown voltage (BV) in this product
can help us in saving time and cost in the initial filling process.
In addition to the oil performance,
one thing that we appreciated is that Shell
also provided a excellent technical supports.
We believe in using this Shell Diala S4 ZX-I
because it has approval from globally renowned OEMs.

Our company is working with PT. Shell Indonesia to meet our transformers oil demand,
in which Shell Diala S4 ZX-I, with the Shell GTL technology,
can improve the performance of insulation resistance of our transformers,
and also offers efficiency with breakdown voltage level of above 60 KV
well above that of oils we have used in the past.
Our production process is faster and optimized,
due to filtration optimization of the purification process,
the process is shorter and improve efficiency
and can save costs of more than USD 222,000 per year or equivalent of IDR 2,6 billion.
