Shell Inclusion Accelerator (SIA) is a program to Strengthen the ecosystem of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) by supporting start-ups focused on creating solutions to remove social barriers, and creating an environment where they thrive with belongingness, independence, productivity, and fulfilment. Thus, empower Inclusion and Accessibility through innovation.

Who

  • Initiated by enABLE network, (Employee Resource Group), Bangalore in partnership with Shell E4 and AssisTech Foundation (External NGO partner).

  • enABLE networks is one of the Employee Resource Groups driven by Shell volunteers that aims at powering lives of Persons with Disabilities by enabling them to achieve their fullest potential. SIA is one of the many programs that enABLE network executes.

  • Shell E4 Program provides a platform for collaboration and conversation around valuable energy transitions, offering startups an opportunity to bring their ideas to life with Shell's guidance and support.

  • AssisTech Foundation is an eco-system enabler that accelerates Assistive Technology Start-ups and Innovators to Positively Impact Learning, Livelihood and Living of PWD.

How

  • Identification and selection of start-ups through ATF (AssisTech Foundation) Awards and ATF Enable Accelerator program, powered by Shell.

  • ATF Awards 2023 ceremony organized on 1st Dec 2023 as part of Bangalore Tech Summit, Asia’s largest tech Summit. The Assistive Technology (AT) track "Rattling the audible ball in AT" of the summit is spearheaded by ATF, powered by Shell.

  • Financial and non-financial support for selected Indian start-ups including Grants and mentorship by Shell.

  • Need based assistance to start-ups through Inclusion experience, Technical Expertise, and resource sharing. Access to relevant start-up ecosystem leveraging E4 Network.

Role of Shell in strengthening the Disability ecosystem

Every individual is unique in their own way. Hence, it is important to dream of a diverse and inclusive world, where everyone is treated equitably. While it comes to the matter of Disability, we sometimes oversee the positive changes that Persons with Disabilities (PwD) bring to build a better world. Gone are the days when Disability Inclusion was seen more of a charity model. Entrepreneurs and Inclusive Startups in India challenges this mindset. At Shell, we aim to be one of the most diverse and inclusive companies in the world. Disability inclusion is one of the key priorities under Shell Powering Progress strategy. Shell has been investing in startups that develop new technologies and business models which has the potential to accelerate the energy transition. We as a company aim to strengthen the disability ecosystem by supporting start-ups in India that focus on creating solutions to remove social barriers by creating an environment where Persons with Disabilities (PwD) thrive with belongingness, independence, productivity, and fulfilment.

Launch of Shell Inclusion Accelerator

"Shell Inclusion Accelerator" program is launched with the aim of enabling inclusion and accessibility through innovation and technology. We are empowering a dedicated community of entrepreneurs by nurturing start-ups financially and non-financially including mentorship by Shell leaders and diverse talent. This will in turn strengthen the entire Disability ecosystem. This program has been initiated and powered by enABLE Network Bangalore in partnership with Shell E4. In 2023, we are happy to partner with ATF in their ATF Awards 2023.

AssisTech Foundation, in partnership with Shell lead the Assistive Technology (AT) track “Rattling the Audible Ball in Assistive Technology” being organized for the very first time at Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) 2023, Asia's largest tech summit. The track shed light on the critical role Assistive Technology plays in fostering an inclusive world.
